RSR broadcasts on four radio channels:

  • La 1ère – news, talk, and general programming
  • Espace 2 – culture and classical music
  • Couleur 3 – youth-orientated programming
  • Option Musique – music ("the hits of yesterday and today")

These channels are broadcast on FM and AM (Option Musique from the Sottens transmitter only), as well as via Digital Audio Broadcasting and satellite (DVB-S).

Controversy : Child Pornography Files at the RSR

In 2005 a System Administrator discovered hundreds of pictures showing children in ambiguous poses with sex toys in the files of a manager. He reported this to his supervisor. As years went by and he saw no action taken following his report, in 2007 the System Administrator talked about the case with another employee of the IT Department, and let is supervisors know that he would file a complain with the personnel's mediation board. The management of the RSR fired the System Administrator for cause. The case was heavily discussed in the Swiss press in the following months, as some people considered that this was a cover-up of an important child abuse case : as the picture were not given to the law enforcement authorities, the children who appeared on the pictures have been neither identified nor assisted. The RSR Management considers that there never was any obligation to report the crime to the law enforcement authorities, and that the dismissal of the System Administrator for cause is justified by the fact that this person had talked about this confidential matter to another employee of the IT Department.
